Feelings group for adult day care

MD Van Wylen and J Dykema-Lamse
Holland Community Hospital, MI 49423.

An adult day care center incorporated a feelings group into its daily program, based on Yalom's focus group model (1983). The group discussion encourages communication, understanding, and trust, and buffers the effects of physical and emotional losses sustained by participants. Anticipated outcomes include increased self-esteem, decreased loneliness, and regained social skills.
